My COPD Buddy

A calmer way to manage COPD, one day at a time.

Privacy Policy

My COPD Buddy · Last updated August 30, 2026

The short version. My COPD Buddy has no account, no sign-in, and no server of ours. Everything you type and track stays on your iPhone. There is no advertising and no tracking across other apps or websites. Two things reach the internet: the ZIP code you type into the Air Quality screen, and — only around the optional Buddy Plus offer screen — a small amount of information handled by Superwall, the company that provides that screen. Superwall never receives your health information or anything you enter.

What the app keeps on your iPhone

Everything you enter is saved on the device itself:

None of this is transmitted to us. We cannot see it, and there is nowhere for it to be uploaded to; the app has no backend service.

Air Quality: your ZIP code

When you use the Air Quality screen, the ZIP code you type is sent to Apple's location lookup (to turn it into a location) and to the Open-Meteo air-quality service (to get the current reading for that location). Nothing else goes with it: not your name, not your health records, and no identifier for you or your device. Those services have their own privacy practices, and we don't control them. The only other information that reaches the internet is described under "The Buddy Plus offer screen" below.

What the app does not do

The Buddy Plus offer screen

Buddy Plus is an optional one-time $6.99 unlock. The screen that offers it is built and delivered by Superwall (Superwall Labs, Inc.), a third-party service that many apps use to show and test their purchase screens. It is the only outside software in the app, and it is involved only with that offer screen — nowhere else.

What Superwall receives:

What Superwall does not receive: anything you type or track in the app, any health information, your name, or your payment details. Superwall does not use this information to advertise to you, and the app does not ask Apple for permission to track you. Superwall handles the data it receives under its own privacy policy at superwall.com/privacy. If you would rather not have this component involved at all, the first few days after you install the app unlock every Buddy Plus feature with no offer screen shown; after that, using the app without buying Buddy Plus still works and simply keeps the paid features locked.

Reminders

Medication and Health Calendar reminders are scheduled and shown by your iPhone. They are never sent from a server, so no reminder, and nothing in it, travels over the internet. By default, Settings' "Hide details on the lock screen" switch keeps both kinds of reminder generic there — a medication name or whatever you typed for a calendar event won't be readable on a locked screen unless you turn that switch off.

Camera

The camera is used only if you choose to scan a prescription label, so you don't have to type the details. The text is read on your device, and nothing is saved until you confirm what it found. If you add a photo to a medication, that photo is stored with it on your iPhone.

Links to other websites

Some screens link out, to the American Lung Association, to airlines, and to medication manufacturers. Those pages open in a browser view inside the app, and once you're there you're on that organization's website under their privacy policy, not ours. My COPD Buddy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.

Sharing your own information

If you use a share option in the app, for example to send your medication list to a family member or your care team, you choose the recipient and the app you send it with. That is entirely under your control, and it happens only when you ask for it.

Children

My COPD Buddy is intended for adults managing their own COPD, or for someone helping them. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Deleting your information

You can delete individual entries — medications, contacts, saved questions, vaccination records, oxygen readings, breathlessness grades, and flare-up records — at any time from the screen where they appear. Settings also has a "Delete All My Data" option that removes everything the app has saved in one step, after you confirm. Deleting the app from your iPhone removes everything it has saved, the same as this control does. Because none of it was ever sent to us, there is nothing for us to delete on our end and no request you need to make.

California privacy rights

SkillQuestApps is based in California, and this section describes your rights under California law (the CCPA/CPRA) whether or not you live there. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never have — there's no data broker relationship or advertising network involved, and Superwall is a service provider that acts on our instructions, not a party we sell data to. Because the app has no server and no account, we don't hold a profile of you to access, correct, or delete on your behalf; everything is already on your own device, under "Deleting your information" above. If you believe we're mistaken about any of this, contact us using the email below.

International users

If you're outside the United States, including in the EU, EEA, or UK, the same practices described on this page apply to you: nothing you enter or track is transmitted anywhere. The only information that leaves your device is the ZIP-code lookup described above (only if you use the Air Quality screen) and the offer-screen information handled by Superwall described above (only around the Buddy Plus offer). We don't operate servers of our own, so any cross-border transfer is limited to what Apple's location lookup, Open-Meteo, and Superwall involve under their own privacy practices; Superwall is a US-based company.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, adding an account, a sync service, analytics, or anything else that sends your information somewhere, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
