Snore Signals

See exactly when and how you snored

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Snore Signals app for iPhone and Apple Watch ("Snore Signals," "the App," "we," "us") handles information. Snore Signals records audio of your sleep and can read health data, so it is built to keep all of that on your own devices.

Short version: Snore Signals has no account, no sign-up, and no server. Your recordings, the snoring detected in them, and anything you note about your nights stay on your iPhone. Health data is only read on your device and is never uploaded, shared, or used for advertising. The one exception is purchase processing for Snore Signals Pro, described in Section 8.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Snore Signals does not ask for, collect, or transmit to us or anyone else:

We do not use advertising SDKs, and nothing in the App tracks you across other apps or websites. The only usage information collected is how the Pro purchase screen is used, described in section 8. We do not sell data.

2. Microphone and Recordings

Snore Signals uses the microphone only while a sleep recording you started is running, and never otherwise. Each recording is saved as an audio file in the App's own private storage on your iPhone, so you can play it back later.

If you turn on Stay Awake ("Nudge me if I doze off"), the App also listens to the microphone live during that recording, on the device, only to notice the rhythm of snoring so it can nudge you. With the Snore Signals Watch app, your Apple Watch's microphone does this listening instead. The Watch only analyzes the sound as it arrives: nothing is recorded or saved on the Watch, and all it tells your iPhone is that snoring was heard.

Snoring is detected on your iPhone using Apple's built-in on-device sound analysis. No audio is sent to us, to Apple, or to any other party for analysis. Snore Signals works out the loudness of each event from the recording on your device; its decibel figures are estimates.

A recording may pick up other sounds in the room, including other people. You are responsible for recording only where you have the right to, and for letting anyone else in the room know.

3. Health Data (Apple Health)

If you allow it, Snore Signals reads heart rate and sleep data from Apple Health on your iPhone, to show it alongside your recorded snoring. This data is read on your device only. It is never uploaded, never shared with any third party, and never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining, in line with Apple's HealthKit requirements. The iPhone app never writes anything to Apple Health.

You can allow or revoke access at any time in the Health app or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health. HealthKit doesn't tell apps whether access was denied, so if you turn it off, Snore Signals simply shows no heart-rate data.

4. Apple Watch

The Snore Signals Watch app (part of Snore Signals Pro) can start and stop a recording on your iPhone and shows its status. While a recording runs, it starts a workout session on the Watch so the Watch measures your heart rate more often. Those heart-rate readings are saved to Apple Health like any other Apple Watch reading, under Apple's normal Health permissions. No workout is saved to your Fitness history.

Your Watch and iPhone communicate directly with each other through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. That traffic doesn't pass through any server of ours.

5. Notes, Nights, and Export

The remedies you tag on a night (for example, side sleeping or nasal strips) and any relabelled events are stored only on your iPhone with that night. If you use Export, the App creates a spreadsheet file (CSV) of your nightly summaries on your device and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice.

6. Notifications

Snore Signals only sends notifications that are created on your device: an optional bedtime reminder you turn on in Settings, and a silent notice if a call or Siri pauses a recording so you can resume it. It does not use push notifications from a server and does not send marketing notifications.

7. Storage, Backups, and Deletion

Everything Snore Signals stores is kept in the App's private storage on your device, protected by iOS's standard app sandboxing and by your device passcode and encryption. It is never uploaded to us. It may be included in your own iPhone or iCloud backups if you have backups turned on; those backups are governed by Apple's terms, not ours.

To save space, a night's audio recording is kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically. The night's results (detected events, summary, remedies and waveform) are kept. You can change this to 7 or 90 days in Settings › Storage.

You can delete any single night, or just its audio, from its Timeline in the App. You can erase everything the App has stored, including all recordings, with Settings › Privacy › Delete All My Data. Deleting the App also deletes everything it stored on your iPhone.

8. Third-Party Services: Purchase Processing

Snore Signals contains one third-party service: Superwall, used only to show the optional Snore Signals Pro purchase screen and to remember whether you have Pro.

Superwall receives device and app metadata (device model, OS and app version, locale, time zone, and an anonymous per-device identifier), purchase and subscription status, a coarse location derived from your IP address at the time of each request, and how the Pro purchase screen is used (for example, when it's shown and which options are tapped). This is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking. It never receives your recordings, your snoring data, your health data, or your name or email address. Snore Signals never gives Superwall any of these, and it never asks for your name or email. Superwall's own privacy policy is at superwall.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Payment itself, including your card, Apple ID and billing details, is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Neither we nor Superwall ever see it.

9. Children's Privacy

Snore Signals is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because the App collects nothing personal from any user, there is nothing held by us to review, correct, or delete.

10. Contact

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be reflected here and, where appropriate, noted in the App.
